This is a system in which organic kitchen waste gets processed into alcohol, soil nutients and compost.
The design which I developed is suitable for communal kitchens, canteens and restaurants. The same system can be developed for smaller or larger scale applications.
I intended to create a process and/or products which would fully utilise the 38% organic content such as fruit and vegetable peelings, produced annually in the UK. With this project I would like to communicate that by adding a fermentation and distillation step between the waste bin and the garden composter it is possible to harness the energy and nutrients stored in the waste before it becomes soil. In the light of imminent government legislation concerning landfill allowances, this product would enable councils, companies and even individuals to deal with organic waste locally.
